Tense

Toaq does not require tense to be overtly expressed. However, it has a family of temporal verbs, with which one can do so if needed:

naı present tense (PRE)
pu past tense (PST)
jıa future tense (FUT)

Temporal verbs have scope over the verbal complex and the post-field.

Tense predicates can also be used as Type II adverbials using the tone:
