Pattern: + verb → adverb

Adverbials fall into two groups: type I adverbials and type II adverbials. Type I adverbials can appear before and after the arguments, while type II adverbials can only appear at the end of a clause. Whether an adverbial is type I or type II depends on the verb class. All verbs that aren’t part of a special class (such as Tense or Negation) form type I adverbials.

Type I adverbials add additional details to a clause, such as time or place:

	Pủ	jỉu	jí	tì	sa	ảomo.
	PST	born	I	P-at	some	island
	"I was born on an island."

	Gủaı	jí	chòu	baq	tỏemy.
	work	I	P-using	GEN	knife
	"I work with a knife."

Type II adverbials have scope over the verbal complex and the post-field:

	Rủao	jí	súq	bũ.
	forgive	I	you	Adv-not
	"I don't forgive you."
